Installation of wooden floor

When installing wooden floor, you should be aware that excessive humidity damages the wood, so, in the premises where the wooden floor will be laid, all concrete, plastering, glazing and painting works should be fully completed.

The recommended relative humidity of the premises is 40-60% and the temperature is 15-25 °C.

Before laying a wooden floor it is necessary to prepare the base, it must also meet the humidity requirements:

  • Concrete – 2% (no more than 3%),
  • Subfloors, plates or plywood – no more than 12%.

In cases where a wooden floor is laid in a room with a source of increased moisture (basement, pool, etc.), waterproofing must be provided to prevent moisture from entering the wood.

When laying a wooden floor on an underfloor heating,, the heating must be turned off for 24 hours before starting the work.

INSTALLING THE BASE

A well-prepared base is one of the most important factors in determining the quality of installing a wooden flooring or a parquet.

The installation of the base can only be started with the proper humidity of the room and the concrete overlay. The recommended relative humidity of the room is 40-60% and the temperature is 15-25 °C.

Wooden floors can be laid:

  • On a concrete base with a maximum moisture content of 3%.
  • On subfloors, plates or plywood with a base moisture content of up to 12%.

In case where a wooden floor is laid in a room with a source of increased moisture (basement, pool, etc.), waterproofing must be provided to prevent moisture from entering the wood.

The concrete base must be solid and smooth. Parquet shall be glued to concrete using a special glue, which does not contain water (SMP-930WFR-T).
